Yes. Hawaii Deck Builders is a division of Hilweh Builders LLC - a licensed general contractor in the State of Hawaii (BC-37232). We also carry general liability insurance and workman's compensation insurance. 

We primarily serve residential homeowners across Oahu — including Honolulu, Kailua, Kaneohe, Hawaii Kai, and the Windward side. Most of our projects involve building new decks, replacing older ones, or making repairs so families can safely enjoy their outdoor spaces.

We also work with condo associations and AOAOs. These projects often involve shared spaces such as lanais, poolside platforms, railings, and gazebos. We help navigate approvals and ensure all work meets HOA requirements as well as city codes.

On occasion, we take on commercial clients such as restaurants, wedding venues, or other businesses that need outdoor decks and gathering spaces built to high safety and durability standards.

We serve a wide range of locations across Oahu, including:

• Greater Honolulu (Downtown, Ala Moana, Diamond Head, Kahala, and surrounding neighborhoods)

• Windward side communities such as Kailua and Kaneohe

For in-person site visits which includes a deck safety assessment and in-depth consultation, a small fee (typically $50–$150) may apply depending on the scope and location. This fee is backed by a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee and ensures that both your time and ours is used thoughtfully and efficiently. We believe your time is just as valuable as ours, and a small investment upfront helps confirm mutual alignment and project readiness. If you move forward with your project, the site fee is credited toward your contract.

In general, we are able to offer free estimates to help you understand general cost ranges based on your goals and project scope. The need for a paid estimate depends on how detailed and customized your project is.

Yes! Hawaii Deck Builders is certified by the North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA) as a Deck Safety Specialist. This means we’re trained to evaluate the structural integrity and safety of your deck based on national industry standards.

Our safety assessments include checking for common issues such as loose connections, failing fasteners, water damage, rotting wood, and outdated railings. If your deck is older, has visible wear, or you’re unsure about its condition, it’s a good idea to schedule a professional assessment—especially in Hawaii’s climate where sun, rain, and termites can accelerate deterioration.
